Local producer to make a horror film about smoking

PETALING JAYA: While many film-makers are keen on making films on ghosts and the supernatural, one producer has a different idea. Aron Koh, 32, is making a film to inflict horror on smokers. The title of his short film is Cinta Akhir, and is supported by Asap, an anti-smoking campaign targeted at Malaysian youths. Cigarettes’ High Prices Reduced Australian Teen Smoking, Says Study

Cigarettes’ high prices have contributed to Australian teenagers smoking less, according to a new study. Higher taxes on cigarettes, expanded no-smoking rules, and well-funded tobacco control programs all helped lower rates of smoking among teenagers during the study. In the current study, published in the journal Addiction, researchers led by Dr. Melanie Wakefield of The Cancer Council in Victoria set out to determine the effect of anti-smoking policies and hikes in cigarette taxes on teen smoking. ... read more >>
